News from i4U’s favorite national basketball team, the Gold Coast Blaze, whom we've enjoyed a corporate sponsorship with since their inception and look forward to their new look team for the 09/10 season!

The Gold Coast Sporting Hall of Fame hosted the most powerful gathering ever of Gold Coast sporting heavyweights last Thursday night.

The chief executives and coaches of our four national sporting teams – Blaze (NBL), The Titans (NRL), Gold Coast United (A-League) and Gold Coast AFL Football Club (AFL) – met for the first time together and marked the historic occasion by presenting signed singlets, jerseys and guernseys to Hall President Daphne Pirie.

Our CEO Dave Claxton and co-owner Ben Tomlinson flew the flag for the Blaze on the night, describing the establishment of four national teams on the Coast as a huge boost to the confidence of the city.

“What’s happening at the moment right across the Gold Coast sporting landscape is incredibly exciting,” Mr Claxton said.

“Nothing lifts community spirit and confidence like sport and we at the Blaze are doing our bit by fielding the most competitive team possible, by extending our grass roots involvements and generally doing eveything we can to promote our sport and community health and wellbeing.

"Thursday night's function gave us the opportunity to meet with the other CEO's and coaches and we'll be initiating formal discussions with them very shortly with a view to further opening the lines of communication.

"That might involve regular coaches forums, joint marketing campaigns, the CEO's sharing ideas with each other...the possibilities are endless and the benefits potentially enormous," he said.
